On May 28, 2007, CCC/TSPM held a press conference in Beijing to announce that the Bible Ministry Exhibition of the Church in China will be held in Germany.
Rev. Dr. Cao Shengjie, the President of China Christian Council, said that being invited by the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the sponsor of the “German Protestant Kirchentag”, the exhibition will be presented at Kirchentag in Cologne on 7-9 June. The “German Protestant Kirchentag” is the largest Christian activity in Germany and is held every two years. It is estimated that 100,000 young Christians from Germany and other parts of the world will attend the activity. Afterwards on the invitation of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bavaria (ELCB), the Bible Ministry Exhibition will be held in Neuendettelsau, from June 13 onward, 2007
Rev. Cao Shengjie said that this is the first exhibition held in Europe after the exhibitions held in Hongkong and USA. The exhibition will witness the Bible Ministry and the church life in China.
The theme of the exhibition is “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105) it will have 6 galleries, namely, “The Early History of The Bible In China”, “Bible Publication after 1980”, “Bible Distribution after 1980”, “Bible Ministries for National Minority Churches”, “The Bible and Church Life”, and “Christian Art Works”.
Rev. Cao introduced that the exhibition is a witness of the religious freedom enjoyed by Christians in China, a witness of the love of Chinese Christians to the Bible and the spread of Gospel in China, development of the Church in China under the guidance of the Bible and its contribution for the society. .
She also reviewed that since China’s reform and opening up, the Churches in the two countries have had friendly exchanges. She hoped that the exhibition will enhance the understanding between Chinese and German peoples and establish a dialogue between Christians of the two countries.
CCTV-4, CCTV-9, New China News Agency, China Daily, China Ethnic News, Journal of Chinese Religions, and Beijing Review and other domestic news medium, Hon Kong’s South China Morning Post and other foreign medium such as Japanese Kyodo News Agency attended the press conference.
The delegation will set off on May 30. Besides holding the Bible Ministry Exhibition, the group will visit the church office of EKD in Hanover and attend a series of friendly activities.
