In August 2004, the National Committee of Three-Self Patriotic Movement of Protestant Churches in China and the China Christian Council (CCC/TSPM) successfully held the China Bible Ministry Exhibition in Hong Kong. After this, many overseas churches and their organizations invited the CCC/TSPM to hold such exhibitions in their countries to let the churches outside China learn more about the Bible ministry in China. So after a lot of preparation the CCC/TSPM decide to carry out an exhibition in the U.S.A. The theme of the up-coming exhibition is ¡°A Lamp to my Feet, a Light to my Path----China Bible Ministry Exhibition.¡± The main purpose of the Bible Exhibition is to bear witness to how Chinese Christians love God¡¯s Word, how the good news in the Bible has been spread in China, and how Christ's body has been built up under the consistent guidance of the Word. During February and August in 2005, the CCC/TSPM sent two groups to visit the United States for the preparation. In February, the former President Jimmy Carter, the famous evangelical preacher Billy Graham, Rick Warren and other notable people in the US religious and social circles received Rev. Cao Shengjie, the President of China Christian Council. Rev. Cao introduced China¡¯s Bible ministry to them, which witnessed the God¡¯s love for the Chinese Church. The CCC/TSPM also invited many influential persons in the three exhibition cities to be the members of the local Working Committees and give a help to this exhibition. It will be the first time for China Bible Ministry Exhibition to be held in USA. This exhibition reflects the Bible ministry of Chinese churches in different stages, Chinese Christians¡¯ devotion to the Bible and their faith in the God¡¯s words. It also witnesses the spreading of the Gospel and the establishing of the churches in China. On the basis of the Hong Kong exhibition, this time we will have 6 galleries, namely, ¡°The Early History Of The Bible In China¡±, ¡°Bible Publication after 1980¡±, ¡°Bible Distribution after 1980¡±, ¡°Bible Ministries For National Minority Churches¡±, ¡°The Bible and Church Life¡±, and ¡°Christian Art Works¡±. When the Bible Exhibition was held in Hong Kong August 2004, Bishop K. H. Ting said, ¡°the Bible unites us¡± much in the way Paul exhorted brothers and sisters in the Corinthian church to ¡°be united in the same mind and the same purpose¡± (1 Corinthians 1:10). To fully convey the concept of ¡°The Bible Unites Us¡±, we will exhibit witnesses£¬photographs, real objects, models, multi-media presentations, and artistic works with Chinese characteristics such as traditional Chinese paintings, calligraphy works, woodcarvings, paper-cuts and wax products. On the opening ceremony there will also be performances with Chinese traditional instruments and choirs from Chinese minority churches. |
