The Preparation for the BME is on its Final Stage

On the morning of April 25, the SARA delegation led by Mr.Jiang Jianyong, Vice Minister of State Administration for Religious Affairs of P.R.C came to visit the work site of the preparation for BME and encourage CCC delegation and the working group of the design company to work hard together to bring the BME a success.

In the evening, a seminar on Christianity in China was held in Azusa Pacific University. Mr. Jiang Jianyong gave a brief introduction of the religions in China and the Religious Freedom Policy. He stated that all religions including Christianity should play a positive role in constructing a harmonious society. He also encouraged Churches in China to make contributions to society construction.

Rev. Cao Shengjie£¬ Mr.Jiang Jianyong
and Mr. Zhong Jianhua, the Council General

Rev. Dr. Cao Shengjie(the President of CCC), Rev. Gao Feng(a vice President of CCC) and Ms. Chen Meilin(the Deputy Associate General Secretary of CCC) also delivered speeches respectively on the relations between church and social development, on church history and on current ministries being carried out by CCC. Dr. Michael Whyte, the Provost of Azusa Pacific University also shared his impressions after his visit to churches in China. He specially mentioned that bibles printed in China he saw were the real true Bible. And churches in China have already printed 40 million volumes of Bible. He thought that there is much for American churches to learn from China. Dr.Don Thorson, professor of Haggard Theological School of APU also reviewed the friendly relationship between APU and churches in China. He also expressed his expectation of more cooperation and partnership with churches in China in a broader field like pastoral training, etc.

After the seminar, Ms. Ma Xiaohui, a famous Christian Erhu player, and the Lisu ethnic choir presented live musical performances. About 70 people attended the seminar.

On April 26, Consul General Zhong Jianhua hosted a banquet at his house for CCC delegation, SARA delegation and other local dignitaries as well as some friends of Chinese media. The Consul General expressed his warm welcome and encouragement to the delegation. Mr. Zhong expressed his expectation that through the BME, we could show the true situation of the Bible publication and distribution to American Christians and American people. Rev. Cao Shengjie, president of CCC, other delegates of the delegation and the Christian artists were interviewed by Chinese Daily, the China Press, International News, Chinese Daily News, Jade Channel, etc. Before that, Rev. Cao Shengjie had already received interviews from Hour of Power, Phoenix Satellite Television(U.S. Inc) and Xing Tao Newspapers.

The seminar at APU

Through the one - week exchanges, sharing and the pre-promotion by the local hosting committee, more and more U.S. media, citizens and Christians get to know about the BME. That has created solid foundation for the success of the BME.

Meanwhile, the delegation is making final preparation for the opening of the BME. Musicians and ethnic group choir rehearsed with the Azusa Pacific University Choir. Under the guidance of the key leaders, the working team of the delegation goes to the exhibition site everyday to pack gifts and set up exhibits, etc. Though we met some unexpected difficulties in a foreign country, the whole delegation still has the confidence in making the first exhibition a flying colour.
