“The Lord exists forever; your word is firmly fixed in heaven.” (Psalm 119:89)

According to historical records, the earliest encounter of the Chinese people with the Bible was in the early Tang Dynasty when a Nestorian missionary, Olopen, came to China in 635 A.D. According to the records, “He brought Scriptures and images from afar, and presented them at the high capital.”

In the early part of the nineteenth century, the first complete Chinese translation of the Bible was made jointly by Protestant missionary Robert Morrison and his Chinese assistants. Subsequently, a great deal of work relating to Bible translation and publication was accomplished thanks to the efforts of foreign missionaries and Chinese Christians. This laid a solid foundation for the Bible ministries of Chinese churches.
